LANCASTER COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Precinct Caucus Committee Report 11-18-07
We are doing well with organization of the February 9, 2008 Precinct Caucuses. We are getting a lot of volunteers and we are making progress for sites daily. It takes effort, but we will get it done. Here is a Status Report:
1. The Young Democrats are being a big help in organizing multiple caucuses for us in LD46. Thanks to Bri McLarty. Kyle Michaelis organized a fun and effective rally for the caucus at the K-State Game
2. Ted Kessler has done a wonderful job with the caucus website and database. The LCDP database is becoming a reality. Go to www.nebcaucus.com and check it out.
3. We have great clerical and organization help. Mary Ann Loos is doing a great job on keeping lists, sending emails and calling potential volunteers and possible caucus sites. Shari Busch has been her back up, getting data entry done. Great people make it easy!
4. John Yoakum and I have made several speeches to small groups and unions to promote the Caucus. We were well received by the Central Labor Unions, the CWA and the Letter Carriers. We are getting great support from the Unions. Terry Danek and Frank Eman deserve special thanks for their help on this front.
5. Maribeth Milner has produced a great logo (also adopted by the State), developed handouts and has been campaigning for us all over town. Maribeth is also working on a making a video of a caucus for training purposes.
6. Thanks to the good advice from the people at the Voice News, we are running weekly 2x 2 ½ ads in the Lincoln Journal Star Neighborhood Extra on Saturdays and in the Waverly News and Voice News in Hickman. These three weeklies cover the entire county and then some. We bought packages at a reduced price to run ads through Feb 9, 2008. Cost was $2863.02.
7. A lots of volunteers have shown up for call nights. Terry Werner, Pattie Newman, John Yoakum, Jon Rehm, Becki , Eric Aspengren, Vince Powers, Julia Walstrom and many others have done the hard part of cold calls.
8. FUNDRAISER: Sunday, December 2, 2007 The ZOO Bar, 136 No. 14th Street form 5.00 to 9:00. Music will be donated by my friend John Ballew (and perhaps others from the Wheezetones) with acoustic soft rock from the 70s
We have made great progress, but we have a long way to go
We need caucus sites. Please find places, which can host 2-3 caucuses. WE need the space form 5-8 pm on Saturday February 9, 2008. Please reserve the place and make the deposit. Then send it in to us for reimbursement.
We need money. Please find $20 or $50 dollars. Tell Vic if you know a business or an individual who might wish to help. Send it to Ted Kessler, c/o Lancaster County Democrats, at P.O. Box 83213, Lincoln, Nebraska 68501.
